Post Gazette Reports on West Virginia Physician Faced Federal Rx Pill Abuse Charge

Robert Stahl, whose criminal defense practice includes representing medical, dental and other professionals accused of wrongdoing, represented a New Jersey physician who passed away before the charges could be tried in West Virginia Federal Court.

According to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette:

“New Jersey lawyer, Robert Stahl, said his client was innocent but that he will never get the chance to prove it. ‘It is unfortunate that his reputation will be tainted by this case even though the indictment will be dismissed due to his death since the charges will remain unproven,’ he said by email.”

“He attacked the government’s case, saying his client was a ‘professional, compassionate physician’ who dispensed pain medication to those who needed it. He said that if some patients were selling the medication, his client didn’t know.'”
